These cars or vehicles are called lemons and thus we have “lemon laws” to protect us.

The United States Law aka (the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) require that manufacturers repair defective cars. And if repairs are not made within a reasonable amount of time and a certain number of attempts then manufacturers are required to refund the purchase price of the vehicle minus a reasonable amount for whatever use may be on the vehicle.

Lemon laws for most states that new cars (California lemon law also covers a used car if it was purchased with the manufacturers warranty still intact) may be returned to the manufacturer for a refund.

Lemon Law Stats

It is estimated in the U.S. that there are 75,000 vehicles are returned to the vehicle manufacturer and this does not include rv’s, mobile homes or motorcycles. The reason for this is that most of these cars, trucks or vans are complete lemons. Three of the top four consumer complaints and consumer fraud complaints have to deal with vehicles. This is why every state has “lemon laws” in tact for everyone’s protection.

Lemon Laws – What can you do if you have a lemon?

1. Keep and maintain good records. Document everything with your vehicles problems or repairs.

2. Check your states definition of a lemon.

3. Seek an Attorney whom specializes in Lemon Laws for your State.
